postgame perspective. >>> and the blue angels take to the sky over the san francisco bay, and we'll take you out on the water. >> nbc bay area news starts now. >> good evening. i'm diane dwyer, and thanks for joining us for this special edition of nbc bay area news. we'll bring you complete coverage of the bay's big weekend in just a moment, but we begin tonight with a heartbreaking story on the peninsula. a minivan hit and killed a 6-year-old girl in a parking lot of a church today. her mother and one other adult was also injured at st. andrew's catholic church in daly city. kimberly tere joins us from daly city with more for us. >> reporter: diane, you can see the markers left on the ground by investigators who were here for hours in this parking lot. the accident happened just before 9:00 this morning, just as mass was about to begin, and catechism for the kids was getting under way. so witnesses say the parking lot was very busy. according to daly city police, a woman in her 50s driving a minivan hit a mother, her child, and another woman. all three victims were taken to san francisc

minutes, the blue angels. we watched them practice today and met the pilots. that and tour of aircraft carrier as big as a small city. >> oakland police have responded to a serious shootings. one happened at 80th street and international boulevard about 6:30 tonight. two men walked into the shop and one fired a weapon and both ran away. the victim was taken to highland hospital with a single gunshot wound. officers detained two suspects and did recover a gun at the scene. >>> another shooting in east oakland sent police to the 1600 block of 92nd avenue. that shooting happened at 4:30 this afternoon. it appears people in two separate vehicles were shooting at each other. the victim who was shot in the back was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. one person was detained at the scene. >> and there is developing news of another shooting in east oakland. happened within the past hour at 96th avenue and burt street. three people were shot. at least one of them ended up dying. we have a crew on the scene and bring you more information as it becomes available. >> police shot and

angels will be practicing this afternoon over the bay. if you look up you'll see them. let's turn to our solo reporter live along the embarcadero talking about some of the action and what is going on. hi, yoli. >> it kicks off today. and it's here at pier 30, 32 with the u.s. macon island carrier. they are starting it off with the two-day seminar on disaster response andheim attorney relief -- humanitarian relief. you have the mayor of san francisco coming down to give opening remarks to the seminar. then we go later on in the day with the practicing of the blue angels. so you are going to see them around 1:00. that is when you can start looking in the air and they will do a couple of passes. around 3:00 they will start doing some practice maneuvers as well. let's show you video of them from last year. this is what is going to be a very busy weekend. of course they will be doing a show on friday, saturday and sunday. aside from the blue angels, the headliners, you also have a bunch of other aircraft that are going to be doing a show. that starts earlier in the day. so really all the sho
angels arriving at sfo and now one of their own got the hot -- they take a ride with the precision flying team. grant was giving us yesterday afternoon, but it wasn't the only one. captain, you see him there suiting up. yeah, he's that danville pilot. you know him. he landed the u.s. airways flight safely back in the hudson river. he was there he flew the flighter jets in the air force in 1970s it was like being a kid all over again when he got to suit up. then it was grants turn, there you see him getting briefed, walking up the little ladder there to get the cockpit. he took grant through the whole thing and really put him through the ringer. we've got 6.2gs. we hit it on the take off which is pretty good. we hit 6.2 in the break coming back here. you fought it off. you stayed awake the whole time that was good. we did break the speed of sound so we went mock 1.03 so how many people in the world can say that's done that's pretty good too. there's a lot more where that came from later on on the kron4 news we're going to have more from captain silly and greaten as well so they'll be kind

. chloe angel, a director of -- i'm going to stop talking. what do you think is going to happen on thursday night, steve? >> i think joe biden gets a bad wrap as a politician, as a communicator and as a debater. i'm not sure when exactly it started, but sometime in the last five years. this caricature of biden as everyone's crazy uncle. it's a gaffe a minute. you never know what crazy thing he's going to say next. i think he is a skilled communicator. i think he's a strong debater. the reason he ended up on obama's ticket was because of the democratic primary debates in 2007, 2008. we forget that biden ran for president. how many debates did we step away, it's hillary, it's obama. but joe biden won this debate. i wrote that column four or five times in 2007, 2008. think way back. when joe biden first ran for president in the 1988 cycle. that was the plagiarism thing. but besides that, when he was running, this guy was the star order of the field. he was a young senator at the time but it was his oratory that set him apart from the rest of the field. i look at this and i say, i'v
